ISCC 2011 Conference:
June 28 - July 1, 2011 |
THE CONFERENCE The conference will be held in the premises of the Ionian University, Ioannou Theotoki 72, which is centrally located in the the city of Corfu and it is in walking distance from all the major points of interest, the port, the main square, the Saint Michael and George Palace etc. and from many city hotels.
The welcome reception will take place in the building of the Ionian Academy, Kapodistriou 1, which is also centrally located in the city.
The conference banquet will take place at Trypas Restaurant in the village of Kynopiastes. The restaurant is famous for its diverse menu with many local and other dishes as well as live music and dance. Bus transportation will be provided to and from the restaurant. THE HOTELS The city and the island of Corfu offer a variety of hotel accommodations. We can distinguish three main categories based mainly on their proximity to the conference venue. First, there are several hotels in the city. Most of them are smaller premises with very good services and their rates are reasonable (for example: Cavalieri, Ariti, Palace Mon Repos, Arcadion, Arion, Bella Venezia). In the city one can find the Hotel Corfu Palace which is a 5 star hotel but its rates are considerably higher than the other city hotels. Then, a few kilometers outside the city center is the area of Kanoni and Pontikonisi where one can find the Aquis Corfu Holiday Palace Hotel (formerly Corfu Hilton) which has all the amenities of a resort hotel and the local organizing committee has managed to secure some very good rates. There is a city bus service next to the hotel, taxis, as well as the possibility of a ... picturesque long walk to the conference site. One can also choose a hotel or rooms-to-let outside the city, closer to the beaches. Many travel sites provide information on these hotels. Even though there is a bus service to most of these places, a car rental is recommended. |
