WORKSHOPS

MediaWiN'11: Sixth Workshop on multiMedia Applications over Wireless Networks

MediaWiN 2011 is the sixth in a successful series of workshops which, since 2006, has been organized in association with the IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications (ISCC 2011). ISCC is an excellent forum for presenting ideas and results at the junction of communication and computation and provides the perfect framework for hosting the MediaWiN Workshop.

The Sixth Workshop on multiMedia Applications over Wireless Networks (MediaWiN) is an open forum, which aims at promoting interaction and discussion between the Workshop contributors. Starting with a rigorous review process in which each submitted paper will receive at least three independent peer reviews, including one from a TPC member, we expect the Workshop to provide relevant and knowledgeable feedback that will assist all authors to significantly enhance the quality of their work.

PEDISWESA'11: Third IEEE International Workshop on Performance Evaluation of Communications in Distributed Systems and Wed based Service Architectures

Performance evaluation is still a topic that attains a lot of attention in both distributed and mobile systems as well as Web based services architectures. Due to the recent advances in internet based applications as well as distributed and mobile communication systems, we are witnessing a variety of new technologies. However, these systems are becoming very large and complex at the same time. Several challenges remain to be resolved before these systems become a commodity. Guaranteeing QoS and provisioning of web-based systems as well as distributed and mobile systems and evaluating their communication performance represent among the challenging problem in the design of these systems. Quantitative analysis can be very difficult and may be intractable because of the state space explosion. New methods and tools have recently emerged for these kinds of complex systems, such as Stochastic Automata Networks, Stochastic bounds, PEPA, just to mention a few.

This workshop focus on the performance evaluation of both distributed and mobile systems, as well as Web based services architectures using both analytical methods and simulation studies. Authors are encouraged to submit full papers presenting new research related to QoS and communication performance evaluation of these systems. Submitted papers must not have been published elsewhere nor currently be under review by another conference or journal.

MoCS'11: First Workshop on Management of Cloud Systems

MoCS 2011 is the first workshops targeted at cloud computing that has been organized in association with the IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications (ISCC 2011).The long tradition of ISCC as cross-interest forum make it a great place to host the MoCS workshop, whose interests cover the whole virtualization stack, from the kernel up to the application, service and management level.

The ambition and mission of MoCS 2011 is to put on the foreground all the issues about management of cloud systems at different layer of abstractions, and to bring together different ongoing research efforts related to this field. This year, special focus will be on the challenging management issues related to the delivery of efficient Green computing solutions over the Cloud.

Starting with a rigorous review process and following with the open forum approach, that promotes interaction and discussion between Workshop contributors, we expect the First Workshop on Management of Cloud Systems (MoCS) to provide relevant and knowledgeable feedback that will assist all authors to significantly enhance the quality of their work.
